What is the marriage certificate needed for?
The marriage certificate (the marriage registry extract, or the international marriage certificate) is the core document of family matters in Italy: family reunification, the spouse’s residence procedures, applications made through a spouse, and assorted official processes. It records your civil status and the official bond with your spouse. Italian authorities do not accept the Turkish certificate directly — apostilled and sworn-translated it must be. We translate it in the form your Italian procedures require and run the certification process, so the family procedures move cleanly on the document side.
Family reunification and residence
The marriage certificate matters most in family reunification and spouse-based residence work: for those wanting to live with their spouse in Italy, or proceeding on the spouse’s status, it is the proof of the official bond — and it must be translated correctly and currently. Knowing the document requirements of the family procedures, we prepare the certificate to fit. It usually goes with the birth certificate and civil registry besides, and prepared together, the set eases the whole process.
Apostille and certification
The marriage certificate too needs apostilling for official Italian use: apostille first, then the sworn translation of the apostilled document, with notarisation added where required. We run the chain in the right order — apostille follow-up, sworn translation and the certifications from one desk. Marriage and civil documents being administrative, the apostille generally comes through the governorship or district governorship. The right apostille–translation–certification chain is what keeps the certificate valid in your Italian procedure; the certification side is on our notarisation page.
The currency requirement
In family matters the certificate’s currency is frequently demanded — some Italian institutions refuse documents past a set age, and a fresh marriage registry extract may be needed for your procedure. We advise on the currency question by procedure, and where a fresh document must be obtained, apostilled and translated, we plan the run together. Currency judged in advance keeps the family procedure from slipping — and the certificate from being refused.
Our process
Here too the service is end to end: send the certificate; we determine the apostille, translation and certification format; we run the process from one desk; and we deliver to fit the Italian procedure. Family matters usually involve several documents — marriage, birth, civil registry — and prepared together they save time and cost. We prepare the family set whole and simplify the procedures’ document side; documents planned as one make the process fast and orderly alike.
Changes of civil status
Some procedures want more than the marriage certificate — the other civil-status documents too (divorce, change of name). A person previously married and divorced may need the divorce decree translated for certain Italian procedures. We assess every civil-status document against your procedure and prepare what’s needed end to end. The civil-status set is a serious document group in Italian family matters; settled together and prepared consistently with apostille and translation, it eases the whole procedure.
In spouse-based applications
In applications made on a spouse’s status — a spouse in Italy, or a joint application — the marriage certificate is the core proof of the bond, and its correct translation, currency and apostille matter especially. Knowing the document requirements of spouse-based Italian procedures, we prepare the certificate to fit — and since it usually travels with the birth certificate and civil registry, we prepare the whole family set together. The whole-set approach keeps the spouse-based application’s documents complete and orderly.
