Sworn, Notarised or Apostilled?

Three Layers, Frequently Confused

In practice there are three levels of certification. A sworn translation carries the translator’s seal and is enough for many procedures. A notarised translation adds a notary’s attestation on top, which some official bodies insist on. An apostilled translation adds the governorship’s apostille to the notarised version, making the document ready for international circulation.

What decides the level is not the document but the institution receiving it. Italian consulates, universities, town halls and Turkish public offices each have their own habits, and our guides set out the right combination for the common scenarios.

Getting this right at the start saves both money and time: paying for notary and apostille when a sworn translation would do is wasted expense, while the reverse gets your file rejected. Upload your document to see the fee instantly, and we will plan the certification layers with you as part of the quote.
