Italy Diploma Translation for Turkish Universities

For graduates of Turkish universities heading to Italy — master’s, doctorate, specialisation or a bachelor’s — the application’s first step is the sworn Italian translation of the diploma and transcript. This page summarises how documents from Turkey’s state and foundation universities are prepared for the Italian application, the steps they pass through, and the institutions we serve.

Which documents get translated for the Italian application?

Most documents from Turkey need sworn Italian translation for an Italian university application. The most-translated, at master’s and doctoral level:

  • The diploma (bachelor’s / master’s) and any provisional graduation certificate,
  • The transcript and the Diploma Supplement,
  • Course contents (for some programmes’ equivalence/exemption assessment),
  • The income and financial documents (for the DSU grant and the ISEE Parificato),
  • The motivation letter, CV and references (Italian or English, by the programme’s language).

The diploma–transcript work in detail is on our diploma–transcript translation page; the whole file on university application translation.

The process: apostille, sworn translation, recognition

For a Turkish document to hold in Italy, the sequence generally runs three stages: apostille first, then the sworn Italian translation of the apostilled document, then — where needed — degree recognition (the CIMEA statement, or the consulate’s Dichiarazione di Valore). The right order is the document never rebuilt from scratch.

Document Processing order
Diploma Apostille → sworn Italian translation → (CIMEA / DoV where needed)
Transcript Apostille → sworn Italian translation
Provisional graduation certificate Apostille → sworn translation (updated when the final diploma issues)
Income documents (DSU / ISEE) Apostille → sworn translation → the ISEE Parificato drawn up

The apostille in detail is in our apostille guide; recognition on the Dichiarazione di Valore and CIMEA pages.

What we watch in academic document translation

A diploma and transcript translation is no ordinary text job. The course titles, the grading system and the ECTS/credit details carry across rigorously, so the Italian institutions can assess the document right. Grades are rendered as they stand — the official grade conversion is a separate recognition process — and the name and date spellings are kept exactly consistent with your passport: that consistency is the quiet key to documents accepted without question.

For those returning from Italy to Turkey

We serve the reverse direction too: graduates of Italian universities seeking YÖK equivalency in Turkey. The sworn Turkish translation the Italian diploma needs for recognition in Turkey is covered on our YÖK equivalency translation pages.

Frequently asked questions

Is my Turkish diploma valid in Italy?

Once apostilled and sworn-translated, the Italian university generally asks for its recognition through a CIMEA statement or the consulate’s Dichiarazione di Valore. Confirm which with the university you’re applying to.

Apostille first, or translation first?

For most Italian procedures, apostille first — then the sworn translation of the apostilled document, so the endorsement is included.

Are my grades converted to the Italian system?

The translation renders your grades as they stand, explaining the system where needed; the official grade equivalence is a separate process (CIMEA/DoV).

My university isn’t listed — am I not covered?

You are. Documents from every state and foundation university in Turkey are within scope; the list samples the main institutions only.
