What is the civil-registry extract?
The civil-registry extract shows the registry details of the person and the family members (name, date of birth, marital status, parents’ details). The extract with events also includes events like marriage, divorce and death. The Italian authorities confirm the family composition from this document.
What is it needed for in an Italian application?
It is asked for to document the household (the nucleo familiare) in DSU/ISEE Parificato scholarship applications, to prove kinship in family-reunion and residence procedures, and to show marital status in some visa files. The correct counting of the household members in the family-income calculation rests on this document.
Where and how do you get the document?
Obtain the document via e-Devlet or from any Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs. For official use, the wet-signed/certified extract is preferred. The apostille on registry documents is taken through the Governorate (linked to the Provincial Directorate of Population and Citizenship).
The apostille and sworn-translation process
Take the document, have it apostilled and have the notarised sworn Italian translation made from the apostilled version. The translation is prepared in the form the Italian consulate accepts. The family members’ names and identity details must match the passport spelling exactly; otherwise the authority can have trouble in matching them.
What to watch in the sworn translation
The names and surnames must match the Latin-letter spelling in the passport; the Turkish characters (ç, ş, ğ, ü, ö, ı) are handled consistently in the translation. If the extract with events is requested, the one without events won’t do; check the application requirement in advance.

Official procedures generally want the wet-signed/certified extract and an apostille; whether the barcoded e-Devlet printout is accepted varies by institution. The safe road is the certified extract.
How long is the document valid?
Registry documents are wanted current-dated; most authorities request an extract taken within the last 3–6 months. Taking a current extract before applying is advised.
