Overview

With around 65,000 students, Padua teaches across a wide field — medicine, the basic sciences, engineering, psychology, agriculture and law above all. It ranks among Italy’s top institutions in the international tables and is known for the weight it gives to internationalisation.

With its historic sites spread through the city’s fabric (the famous Palazzo Bo included) and its modern research centres, Padua offers an academic setting both storied and current.

The city of Padua and student life

Set in the Veneto region, Padua is a human-scale, student-friendly city about half an hour from Venice by train. Its housing and living costs are more balanced than the big metropolises; the in-city transport and the social life are favourable for students.

Faculties and signature programmes

Padua offers a wide range of programmes across many departments (dipartimenti). The fields Turkish students often turn to:

• Medicine and surgery, pharmacy, health sciences,
• Engineering (computing, industrial, biomedical),
• Psychology (among Italy’s strongest),
• The basic sciences (physics, mathematics, biology), agriculture and food,
• Economics, political science and law.

The university opens the door to apply without an Italian precondition, with many English-taught bachelor’s and master’s programmes.

Language of instruction and language conditions

Programmes can run in Italian or English. Italian-taught ones want a B2 language certificate (CILS/CELI) or the university exam, English-taught ones IELTS/TOEFL. Some programmes run an entrance assessment (a TOLC, say).

Application for Turkish students

The application begins with the programme choice and the Universitaly pre-enrolment. A CIMEA or a Dichiarazione di Valore is needed for the degree recognition. The sworn Italian translation of the diploma and transcript must stand ready at this stage.

Tuition fees and scholarships

Fees are tiered by the ISEE, and low-income students can be largely exempted. The regional grant agency ESU Padova (Veneto DSU) provides housing, food and cash support; the application wants the sworn translation of your income documents and an ISEE Parificato. Which documents should you have sworn-translated for the University of Padua?

Applying to the University of Padua (or to a programme in the same city), most documents issued in Turkey need a sworn Italian translation. The most-translated documents in master’s, doctoral and bachelor’s applications:

• The diploma (bachelor’s/master’s) and, where applicable, the provisional graduation certificate,
• The transcript and the diploma supplement,
• The course contents (where a recognition/compatibility assessment is needed),
• The income and financial documents (for the DSU grant and the ISEE Parificato),
• The statement of intent, CV and references (in Italian or English, by the programme’s language).

The order generally runs: the document is apostilled first, then sworn-translated into Italian from the apostilled version, and where needed the degree recognition (a CIMEA report or the consulate Dichiarazione di Valore) is obtained.
