Overview

With around 35,000 students, the Politecnico di Torino teaches across all branches of engineering and in the architecture-design fields. It is known for its industry partnerships, its research centres and its international double-degree programmes. Alongside the Politecnico di Milano, it is one of Italy’s two large polytechnics.

The university is especially strong in automotive, aerospace, mechanical and information engineering; Turin’s industrial past feeds these ties.

The city of Turin and student life

The capital of Piedmont, Turin is an industrial and cultural city in Italy’s north-west, close to the Alps. The cost of living is more balanced than in the big metropolises; housing, social life and transport are well suited to students. Its closeness to the French border and to Milan is a further advantage.

Faculties and signature programmes

The programme structure is built around engineering and architecture-design:

• Engineering: mechanical, automotive, aerospace, electronic, computing, energy, civil, management,
• Architecture and urban design,
• Design and communication in selected programmes.

At master’s level many programmes are taught in English, opening the door for international students to apply without an Italian precondition.

Language of instruction and language conditions

At bachelor’s level programmes are mainly in Italian (some in English); at master’s level many are in English. English-taught programmes want IELTS/TOEFL, Italian-taught ones a language certificate. Bachelor’s applications apply an online entrance assessment (TIL).

Application for Turkish students

The process begins with the programme choice and the Universitaly pre-enrolment; the university’s own online application system is used too. A CIMEA report is commonly used for the degree recognition. For the academic assessment, the sworn translation of your transcript and diploma supplement is needed.

Tuition fees and scholarships

Fees are tiered by the ISEE; there are exemptions for low-income students. The regional grant agency EDISU Piemonte (Piedmont DSU) provides housing and cash support. Which documents should you have sworn-translated for the Polytechnic University of Turin?

Applying to the Polytechnic University of Turin (or to a programme in the same city), most documents issued in Turkey need a sworn Italian translation. The most-translated documents in master’s, doctoral and bachelor’s applications:

• The diploma (bachelor’s/master’s) and, where applicable, the provisional graduation certificate,
• The transcript and the diploma supplement,

• The statement of intent, CV and references (in Italian or English, by the programme’s language).
