Overview

With around 7,000 students, IULM teaches in communication and media, public relations and advertising, languages, tourism, fashion-luxury management and the art market. It holds strong links with the industry.

Its position woven into Milan’s creative and fashion economy strengthens its applied programmes and internship provision.

The city of Milan and student life

The capital of Lombardy, Milan is Italy’s centre of fashion, design, media and finance. The IULM campus is within the city; the housing cost is high but the sectoral opportunities are wide.

Programmes and signature fields

The fields Turkish students often turn to:

  • Communication, media and advertising
  • Languages and intercultural communication
  • Tourism and event management
  • Fashion and luxury management
  • The art market and cultural management

The university’s English-taught programmes open the door to apply without an Italian precondition.

Language of instruction and language conditions

Programmes are mainly Italian; selected programmes are English. Italian-taught programmes want a B2 language certificate (CILS/CELI), English-taught ones IELTS/TOEFL.

Application for Turkish students

The application is made through the university’s own admission system; for the official procedures in Italy (pre-enrolment, residence, degree recognition) the Universitaly and CIMEA or Dichiarazione di Valore are needed. At this stage the apostilled, sworn-Italian-translated form of your diploma and transcript must stand ready.

Tuition fees and scholarships

As a private (foundation) university, the fees are higher than at the state universities; in many programmes the fee is tiered by the family income (ISEE). The university’s own merit and need scholarships provide important support; in some cases the regional DSU provision (housing, etc.) can be drawn on too. Scholarship applications want the sworn translation of your income documents and, where needed, an ISEE Parificato. For detail see our scholarships section.

Which documents should you have sworn-translated for IULM University?

Applying to IULM University (or to a programme in the same city), most documents issued in Turkey need a sworn Italian translation. The most-translated documents in master’s, doctoral and bachelor’s applications:

  • The diploma (bachelor’s/master’s) and, where applicable, the provisional graduation certificate,
  • The transcript and the diploma supplement,
  • The course contents (where a recognition/compatibility assessment is needed),
  • The income and financial documents (for the DSU grant and the ISEE Parificato),
  • The statement of intent, CV and references (in Italian or English, by the programme’s language).

The order generally runs: the document is apostilled first, then sworn-translated into Italian from the apostilled version, and where needed the degree recognition (a CIMEA report or the consulate Dichiarazione di Valore) is obtained. For detail see our apostille guide, CIMEA recognition, Dichiarazione di Valore and Universitaly application pages. For document-level detail, the diploma-transcript translation and university application translation pages help.
