What kind of university is it?

IUL is a telematic university delivering its courses online, specialised in education sciences and teaching. It runs programmes in e-learning, digital didactics and education technologies.

How does the online education work?

The courses are delivered over an online platform; the exams are held at physical centres or with online proctoring. The curriculum is turned to e-learning methods.

Degree validity and recognition

Online universities are recognised by the Italian Ministry (MUR), and the degrees they grant hold the same legal value in Italy as those of the state universities. To use it in Turkey, the degree needs YÖK equivalence; in that process a sworn Turkish translation of the Italian diploma and transcript is wanted. For recognition detail, see our recognition pages.

An important note for Turkish students

Fully online education does not, on its own, provide an Italian student visa/residence. IUL suits those already in Italy, or those wanting a degree remotely; for validity in Turkey, YÖK equivalence and a sworn translation are needed.

Tuition fees

At online universities the fee is a fixed annual amount by programme, and does not resemble the ISEE-tiered system of the state universities. The fees vary by institution and programme; an instalment option is generally offered. For the current fees, see the university’s official site.

Which documents should you have sworn-translated for IUL – Italian University Line?

Applying to IUL – Italian University Line (or to a programme in the same city), most documents issued in Turkey need a sworn Italian translation. The most-translated documents in master’s, doctoral and bachelor’s applications:

• The diploma (bachelor’s/master’s) and, where applicable, the provisional graduation certificate,
• The transcript and the diploma supplement,
• The course contents (where a recognition/compatibility assessment is needed),
• The income and financial documents (for the DSU grant and the ISEE Parificato),
• The statement of intent, CV and references (in Italian or English, by the programme’s language).

The order generally runs: the document is apostilled first, then sworn-translated into Italian from the apostilled version, and where needed the degree recognition (a CIMEA report or the consulate Dichiarazione di Valore) is obtained.
