Invest Your Talent: The Participating Universities

The Invest Your Talent programme runs in cooperation with a pre-defined group of Italian universities: as a student, you can apply under IYT only to the relevant master’s programmes of the universities taking part. This page explains the participating universities — and how to choose the right programme — from a Turkish student’s perspective.

How is the list set?

IYT publishes a list of participating universities for each academic year — select Italian institutions offering English-taught master’s programmes in the programme’s fields (engineering, design, economics, computing). The list shifts a little year to year, universities joining or leaving, so checking the current year’s list with the official source before applying is essential. Only the listed universities’ relevant programmes take IYT applications — a programme off the list cannot be applied to under IYT. Choosing the right university is the application’s foundation.

Which universities take part?

The participants number among Italy’s technically and academically strong institutions: the programme leans towards the technical universities strong in engineering and design, the recognised universities in economics and business, and the institutions prominent in computing. With participants across different cities, options exist to fit you academically and practically both. Since the exact list changes yearly, we’d point you at the current official list rather than fixed names here — and reading it, focus on the universities carrying your field’s programmes and matching your academic goals.

Choosing the right university and programme

Working the list, choose against a few criteria: the programme’s fit with your field and career goal; the curriculum’s content and its specialisations; the university’s academic strength in the field and its industry connections; and the city’s cost of living and internship opportunities. With IYT’s internship leg, the university’s ties to industry and the business world matter especially. Choosing on real fit rather than prestige alone strengthens the application and raises the programme’s yield both — the right match is what makes the IYT experience worth most.

The application and the university admission

In the IYT process, the grant and the university admission move together. You generally apply through the IYT portal, selecting your preferred participating universities and programmes, while the universities run their own academic assessments — meaning both IYT’s conditions and your chosen university’s admission criteria must be met. Multiple preferences are possible; build a balanced list matched to your standing. How the admission and grant processes interlock is settled in the official call; the steps themselves are on our application steps page.

The city and the living

Choosing the university, weigh its city too. IYT universities sit in different cities: the great centres like Milan carry strong industry connections and internships at a high cost of living, while the smaller and mid-sized cities can live cheaper. The IYT grant contributes to the living, but the city’s costs bear directly on the budget — so count the city’s costs and its internship openings alongside the academic fit. The right university–city pairing balances the academic, the financial and the career sides at once.

How to read the list

Reading the participants’ list, look past the names to which programmes each university offers under IYT. A university on the list may not carry your programme within the scheme — so read at “university + programme” level, confirming your field’s English master’s is offered under IYT at that institution. Each programme can carry its own admission criteria and deadlines besides. The list read at that level of detail is the right choices made — and the wasted application avoided.

The technical universities and the focus

With IYT’s fields technical and applied in weight (engineering, design, economics, ICT), the strong technical institutions stand out among the participants — deep specialisation in the relevant fields, well-equipped laboratories, strong industry ties. Choosing a programme, weigh the university’s strength in your field and its research-and-industry connections: at a technically focused institution, your access to the field’s resources and internships can run stronger. The university’s field specialism bears directly on the education’s quality and the internship’s yield alike.

The programmes run on site, in Italy

IYT programmes are full-time master’s degrees run on campus in Italy — not remote, not hybrid — meaning you move to Italy and live there. Choosing the university, then, count the city, its costs and the housing; and note that being on site is the precondition of the internship leg and the cultural experience both — direct contact with the Italian business and academic worlds happens only in person. The on-site structure is what turns IYT into a complete Italian experience, and raises its worth.

Meeting the university’s own criteria

Qualifying for the IYT grant is not automatic admission to a university: your chosen institution’s own academic criteria must be met besides — grade average, undergraduate-field fit, language level, and sometimes extra documents (a portfolio, a motivation letter). Before applying, study the target programme’s conditions closely and make sure the file carries them. Meeting IYT’s conditions and the university’s criteria together is the admission and grant odds at their highest — the application that counts both layers is the strongest there is.

The university-choice checklist

  • Take the current participants’ list from the official source
  • Verify your programme is offered under IYT
  • Weigh the university’s field strength and industry connections
  • Count the city’s costs and its internship openings
  • Make sure you meet the programme’s own admission criteria
