Before applying: choosing field and university

The first and most important step is choosing the right field and university. Since the programme concentrates on engineering, design, economics and management, first make sure your own goal falls within that scope. Then study the universities taking part that year and the English-taught master’s programmes they offer — each may carry different programmes and quotas. Choose by academic interest and internship/career goal together. Doing this research early beats deciding in a rush when the window opens.

Step 1 — Verify your eligibility

Before applying, check: that Turkey is on that year’s list, that your chosen field and programme are open, that you meet the English requirement (usually B2), and that your academic background fits the programme. Because IYT is field-focused, the fit matters especially — an unrelated bachelor’s background weakens your chances. In doubt, ask the university’s international office.

Step 2 — Apply to the university

IYT runs through your chosen university’s master’s application process, and the grant attaches to that application. You apply through the target university’s portal with the required documents — usually the diploma, transcript, English certificate, CV and motivation letter. Some programmes add a portfolio (design) or an interview. During the application you may need to declare your IYT candidacy or complete a dedicated grant form — check that detail on the university’s IYT pages.

Step 3 — Prepare the documents

Prepare the file legibly: translations of the diploma and transcript, the English certificate, CV, motivation letter and references where held. At application stage a simple translation generally suffices; at admission and enrolment the apostille and sworn translation come into play. Step 4 — Result, admission and internship placement

The calendar

IYT applications track the participating universities’ master’s calendars and cluster in spring — but each university and programme can carry its own deadlines, so work from your target university’s calendar rather than any single “IYT deadline”. Portfolio, interview and extra conditions

Some IYT programmes ask for more than the standard file. Design and architecture programmes generally require a portfolio — the single most important demonstration of your creative competence, worth real care. Some programmes hold an online interview or motivation conversation, assessing your knowledge of the field, your English and your fit. Economics and engineering programmes may want standardised tests (GRE/GMAT) or specific course prerequisites. Read each programme’s extras separately before applying; the portfolio or test one programme demands may not exist at the next.

Visa and enrolment stage

Once admission and the grant come through, the process joins the same track as every Italian programme: final enrolment, Universitaly pre-enrolment, the Dichiarazione di Valore or CIMEA, the visa appointment and residence formalities in Italy. At this stage the apostilled, sworn-translated diploma and transcript are required — being an IYT student changes nothing in that chain, which is why the smartest move is to start the document preparation while still waiting on the result.
