Erasmus+ in Italy

Italy is comfortably one of the most popular destinations for Erasmus+ students from Turkey. The grant is arranged through the Erasmus office of your Turkish university; because Italy counts as a "group 2" country, the monthly grant is around €600 at most universities (with small variations depending on your university's KA131 budget). Two top-ups may apply: support for disadvantaged students, and a "green travel" supplement for those going overland rather than flying.

Does the Grant Stretch?

The honest answer: it depends on the city. In Milan, rent alone can swallow the entire grant; in Perugia, Siena or Bari, €600 covers halls and meals comfortably. Before losing money to private listing sites, look into the university's ESN network and the DSU halls of residence.

A Short Paperwork List — With Tight Timing

Erasmus involves nothing like the document sets of MAECI or DSU; exchange students are exempt from the visa and DoV process. Three items may still need translation:

• A transcript translation (English or Italian) if the host institution asks for one,
• The civil registry extract for residence formalities on stays over 90 days,
• Whatever documents the company requests on a traineeship placement.

One tip: every year more students finish their Erasmus term and decide to stay on for a master's in Italy. If that might be you, bring an updated transcript and your course syllabi home with you — those two are what recognition and admission offices ask for most.
