The documentary foundation

The master’s application rests on your bachelor’s degree and bachelor’s transcript, apostilled and sworn-translated into Italian. A recognition document (CIMEA statement or DoV) showing the degree’s Italian counterpart is frequently required at this level, and a language certificate follows the programme’s language. With English programmes plentiful at master’s level, many students apply on an English certificate. These documents are the application’s academic foundation — prepare them early.

The motivation letter and the extras

Unlike the bachelor’s file, the master’s asks more often for a motivation letter, references and a CV. For the MAECI scholarship and the competitive programmes especially, a well-made motivation letter can decide the assessment. Ask your undergraduate professors for the references in good time; build the CV around the academic record and any relevant experience. The scholarship documents at master’s level

The master’s is Italy’s richest funding level — MAECI, DSU, the university awards, IYT and Erasmus Mundus all open here, and each wants its own documents: the motivation letter and language certificate for MAECI; the income documents and ISEE Parificato for DSU; the application and academic file for IYT. Timing and points of care

Degree recognition (CIMEA/DoV), the apostille-translation, the language certificate, the motivation letter and the references all take time — and pursuing several channels means managing several calendars. Gather the documents and processes into one table and plan early; the shared documents (the diploma–transcript translation) prepared once serve several applications. Notes for Turkish students

The core master’s documents are the bachelor’s degree, the transcript and the recognition document — prepare them early. Take the English certificate for an English-taught target, the Italian one for an Italian-taught. The motivation letter and references matter above all for the competitive programmes and MAECI; prepare the income documents and the rest by the channels you pursue. Prepare the document translations in advance. A master’s file early, complete and whole is the key to the study and funding goals both.

The field-specific extras

By field, the master’s can ask for more: a portfolio for design and art programmes; a statement of research interest for the research-led; project or experience documents for some technical ones. The field extras show your competence beyond the transcript — learn in advance whether your target programme wants them, and prepare early where it does; a portfolio, for one, takes real time. Field documents ready on time meet the programme’s particular requirements and set the application apart.

Preparing for the competitive programmes

Some master’s programmes and scholarships — MAECI, IYT, Erasmus Mundus above all — run intensely competitive, and there the document quality decides. The strong academic file is the foundation; but a well-made motivation letter, quality references and a careful CV open the gap. Don’t leave them late — develop them through drafts, and say concretely why this programme, why Italy. Enrolment stage and recognition

Once admitted, final enrolment frequently requires the recognition document (CIMEA/DoV) — prepared at application stage, it speeds the registration greatly. Enrolment can demand the originals of the apostilled-translated degree and transcript, and the identity-residence papers besides; keep the file orderly and carry it to Italy.
