The Bachelor’s Application Document Checklist

The documentary foundation

The bachelor’s application rests on your high-school diploma and high-school transcript, since the degree builds on secondary education. Both must be apostilled and sworn-translated into Italian, and a recognition document (CIMEA or DoV) showing the diploma’s Italian counterpart may be required besides. A language certificate follows the programme’s language — CILS/CELI for B2 Italian, IELTS/TOEFL for English. These documents are the application’s academic foundation; apostilling and translating the high-school papers early is the process’s first and most important step.

Programmes with an entrance exam

Some Italian bachelor’s programmes — medicine, some engineering fields, architecture — are quota-limited and require an entrance exam, whose result then joins the file. Learn the exam’s format, calendar and requirements in advance and prepare; English-taught programmes can use an international format. Plan the exam alongside the document work: on quota-limited programmes, attending to both on time is what completes the application whole and on schedule.

The scholarship documents at bachelor’s level

With no MAECI at bachelor’s level, the funding runs chiefly through DSU and the university merit awards. The DSU application needs the income documents and the ISEE Parificato, apostilled and translated; the merit awards weigh chiefly your academic file (the high-school grades). Timing and points of care

Timing matters: the high-school apostilles and translations, the recognition, the language certificate and any entrance exam all take their time — put them at the head of the calendar. For visa-requiring students, the Universitaly pre-enrolment belongs in the process too. Documents prepared early and in the right order keep the application moving; confirm the definitive list with your target university, since requirements vary by programme. The key bachelor’s documents are the high-school diploma and transcript — apostille and translate them early. The high-school diploma and equivalence

The high-school diploma is the central document — but in some cases the Italian university examines your secondary education’s comparability with the Italian school system. Some countries’ systems differ from Italy’s by a year, and additional requirements can follow (a set number of university credits, or a preparatory year). Learn from the target university whether your diploma counts as sufficient for bachelor’s entry; its apostille, translation and any recognition document ground that assessment. The high-school papers and any extra requirements settled early put the application on solid ground.

Documents for the English-taught bachelor’s

Applying to an English-taught bachelor’s, you present an English certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) in place of the Italian one; the rest of the file — diploma, transcript, recognition — stays the same. With English options thinner at this level, research in advance which universities carry them and what they require. Even studying in English, basic Italian pays in daily life. On the documents, the language choice changes only the certificate: the core set is shared. Knowing that prepares the right certificate — and completes the application.

Quota, calendar and exam

Calendar and quota matter at bachelor’s level. Some programmes are quota-limited with exams whose dates can collide with the document work — so learn the target programme’s application calendar, exam dates and quota position early, and run the document preparation (apostille, translation, recognition) and any exam preparation in parallel. The enrolment-stage documents

Once admitted, final enrolment takes its own set: the admission document, the apostilled-translated high-school diploma and transcript, the recognition document and the identity-residence papers. Much of it you prepared at application, but enrolment can demand the originals — keep the file orderly and carry it to Italy.
