Income or merit?

Some university supports (the fee waivers, say) can read income too. Italian and the language condition

Italian is not compulsory for a university award — it follows your programme’s language. Applying to an English-taught programme, the English certificate (IELTS/TOEFL) can suffice; an Italian-taught one wants the Italian level. The scholarship assessment leans on the academic file, independent of the programme’s language — so the award is applicable for even while studying in English. Does a university award really cut the cost?

Yes — substantially. The fee waivers wipe most or all of the tuition; the cash-bearing awards carry the living costs; and a merit award matters most to the student above the income threshold and outside DSU. Can I apply to more than one award?

The timing moves by university and by award: some assess automatically with the programme application; some want a separate, earlier one. Draw the programme calendar and the scholarship calendar together, then. The international windows generally cluster in spring–summer; a programme starting in autumn wants the preparation running from the previous winter. Which documents are needed?

Generally: the diploma and transcript (apostilled, with the sworn translation), the English or Italian certificate, the motivation letter and sometimes the references; and for the degree’s recognition, a CIMEA report or the Dichiarazione di Valore can be wanted besides. The preparation taking its time, start early — the sworn translations completed in advance smooth the university application and the scholarship one together. University award or DSU — which should I prefer?

It needn’t be either-or; in most cases the smartest reading weighs both.
