What is the student certificate?

The student certificate shows that a person is enrolled and an active student at a school/university, together with the class/term detail. It is obtained from the school’s student office or via e-Devlet.

What is it needed for in an Italian application?

It is asked for to prove active studentship in Erasmus+ and exchange applications, the education status on a student visa, and the enrolment condition in some scholarships. Bachelor’s/master’s candidates not yet graduated present it together with the transcript.

Where and how do you get the document?

Obtain the document from your school’s/university’s student office, wet-signed/certified, or via e-Devlet. The apostille on a university-sourced document is taken through the university’s parent authority; on school documents, through the Governorate.

The apostille and sworn-translation process

Take the document containing the current term detail, have it apostilled where needed and have the sworn Italian translation made. The department, the class and the level of study must show plainly in the translation.

What to watch in the sworn translation

The document must show the current term; a stale-dated student certificate may not be accepted. In exchange applications it matters that the school name and the department are consistent with their official English/Italian equivalents.
