What is the military status certificate?

The military status certificate shows a person’s current situation regarding military service (completed, deferred, exempt). It is obtained from e-Devlet or the military recruitment office.

What is it needed for in an Italian application?

It can be asked for in some visa and residence files to show male applicants’ obligation status in Turkey. In student applications, the deferral status can be a supporting document in the return/obligation assessment.

Where and how do you get the document?

Obtain the document from the “Military Status Certificate” service on e-Devlet or from the recruitment office. The apostille on a public-sourced document can be taken through the Governorate/District Governorate.

The apostille and sworn-translation process

Take the document showing the current status, have it apostilled where needed and have the sworn Italian translation made. The status (deferred/exempt/completed) and the date details must be plain in the translation.

What to watch in the sworn translation

The deferral status must be current; the deferral end date can affect the application period. The document is wanted current-dated.
